I've upgraded to windows 7 and need to install more ram
If you turn the laptop over there are usually 1 or 2 panels you can unscrew. unscrew them and take the old chips out by pulling the tabs on either side of the chips outwards. installation is the reverse of removal, they should just slide in.

SOURCE: INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS 7
This is probably not going to be the answer you are expecting ... it remains a good answer and a reasonable reply to your question.
Before you do anything else ... consider these two items ...
1) If there is something physically wrong with your computer - get it repaired before you invest $200.00 in installing a new OS on a machine you can't use.
2) Check the Microsoft Hardware Compatability List to see if your laptop is Windows 7 ready http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/en-us/default.aspx
There is a similar Toshiba site you should investigate. Find it here: http://laptops.toshiba.com/windows7upgrade-learnmore
If your machine is listed on the hardware compatability list with no special notes, you will not need anything else to run the computer. If your computer is NOT on the list, Windows 7 will NOT run on your computer ... shaking or not.
I hope I have helped you with your question today ...

You have to format your hard disc.
Place your purchased verion of Win7 into the DVD drive. Power up the laptop and boot from the DVD.
In the menu, select "Install fresh System" and let it format the drive.
That will sort out your problem.

You can, but it still won't run by the battery, even still.Your battery sounds like it is bad

I think the problem is that the A300 is a discontinued model and if I am not mistaken there is probably no windows7 drivers for the camera istalled on that model, perhaps using an extrnal cam is another solution. good luck
