The trouble is that the scanner assembly can't find its "home" station. Here is the most common solution. There is a reflective white stipe under the scanner glass that the scanner looks for. If the stripe is dirty, or if the scanner mirrors are dirty, the scanner won't sense its location, and cause a "scanner error". A qualified technician should be able to clean the assembly. The other option is to replace the scanner assembly. I hope this helps.

If you're a visual learner this is the video for you (and me! It worked). Here's how to clean the mirrors if it's a scanner problem ie if the scanner seems to be 'stuck' & doesn't respond to being reset

Scanner Error - Power On Power Off

Hello,

The "scanner warming up" error is usually caused by dirty glass or mirrors in the scanner assembly. Here is a link to a step by step guide that tells how to open the scanner unit and clean the optics to clear the error.

HP Laserjet 3330. Scanner bulb warming up doesn't go away. I have done the "solution 1" as discribte but nothing is happening. It goes like: - i put the power on, hewlett packard is flashing, the...

How does the bulb look? Is it bright or kind of dim. The bulb warming error is designed to halt use of the machine until the scanner bulb reaches the correct output level. As these are basically a flourescent tube, they will dim over time and at a certain point they will not generate enough light to enable proper scanning. If the bulb is dim, it will require replacement.

My 3330 says scanner bulb is warming up then it gives me a error 79 message no ,matter how many times i restart it

The error 79 on that machine means that the scanner assembly has failed to align/calibrate. Could be due to a bad calibration strip on the scanner glass, have you ever sprayed glass cleaner directly onto the scanner glass? If so this can stain the calibration strip and render the scanner useless. It is probably best to have the machine serviced by HP.

Not working properly

I'm having a similar problem. So far my solution has been to disconnect the 3330 from power for a longer period (> 30min.) and then switch it back on again. After the self-test everything appears to be ok again. I've got no idea why, but this seems to work (for now)
