Loud, grinding noise from garage door opener

Began with opening ending with a loud "pop", then door would go limp, until i pushed button on remote and track would return to arm and finish the closing. Then in my return, I would push the open button, the door would lift, almost completely, then "pop" and go limp. Now the control track only makes a loud grinding noise.

    It's weird that your door would make a popping sound and then go limp before making a grinding noise. Mine is making a loud screeching sound whenever it opens and closes, and it gets louder when it's colder. Remove the cover from the motor housing and check the drive gear.

To answer your question the opener is in vacation mode. Press and hold for 3 seconds the button on your wall control with the lock icon. The green light will stop flashing and you will be back in business.

Sounds like a skinned wire on your front or rear limit switches is touching metal. Go over your low voltage wiring and test again.

If the small light in your wall control is blinking it is in the lock mode. Press and hold for 3 seconds the button with the icon of a lock. This will toggle the lock function off.

Check the sensors in the doorway. Sounds like they may be misaligned. They need to be pointing at one another to work properly.

If you held the smart button in too long it erases the memory and none of the remotes will work. To program it press and hold the button on your remote and then press and immediately release the smart button.

SOUNDS LIKE THE UP LIMIT IS EITHER OUT OF ADJUSTMENT OR NOT WORKING.

TURN IT ABOUT THREE TURNS COUNTER CLOCKWISE. THIS SHOULD BE ENOUGH TO MAKE IT NOT OPEN ALL THE WAY. THEN ADJUST IT 1/2 TURN AT A TIME THE OTHER WAY UNTIL IT GETS CLOSE THEN SMALLER ADJUSTMENTS TILL YOU ARE HAPPY WITH WHERE IT STOPS.

Liftmaster 1/3hp garage door opener
When i try opening the garage door from the wall button the door only opens 3 inches or so, then stop but makes several loud clicking noises. I've played around with the travel limits as well as the open force switch but the same thing keeps happening. Any suggestions?

Door won't lift when push button. Makes loud
if this is a chain drive,is the chain so loose that the chain is jumping on the sprocket? this would cause a lot of noise. if this is the problem just tighten the chain.

if you used a non samsung toner cartridge replace it with another of a different brand or a samsung one. when it pushes the cover open look to see which toner cartridge is pushed out and replace that one

Door opens on it own and light blinks
  • Stuck remote control button. Check all remotes. check LED on receiver.
  • Staples around Multi-Function Control Panel bell wire could be cutting into that wire. Remove wires from opener and test. Replace staples causing intermittent short.
  • Multi-Function Control Panel could have sticking door control push bar. Remove wires from control panel and test. Replace control panel if defective.
