Noisy Amana ABB2227DEB

I purchased this refrigerator in 4/2006. By 10/2006, the unit had become so noisy that we couldn't tolerate it any longer. Scheduled a service call, and the repairman did me a "favor", and replaced a small motor that he said opened a small passage that connects the upper/lower compartments. While he claimed it was functioning correctly, it was just noisy. The motor replaced was located in the top center (behind the light). What is causing this noise, if the unit is working correctly? Is there some preventive maintenance that I can perform that would avoid this problem from re-occurring?

The motor is an "auto damper" that opens/closes to let cold air from the freezer comp. into the refer comp. depending on the temp. There is nothing you can do for maintenance, the little motor runs the damper when needed automatically. Some motors are quiet, some are noisy (grind grind grind) as the open and close. Sort of the nature of the beast, if you're lucky you get one that stays quiet.

Actually the motor on itself is VERY quiet, I've noticed. The mediocre design of the damper assembly resonates and amplifies the inaudible to loud noise.

Amana bottom freezer, all working OK, but very noisy freezer. How do I fix it?

There are a few potential causes of a noisy bottom freezer. Here are some things you can try to fix the problem:
  1. Check for frost buildup: Frost buildup can cause the freezer to become louder as it has to work harder to keep things frozen. To check for frost buildup, remove all items from the freezer and unplug the fridge. Then, use a hair dryer to melt any frost that has accumulated on the evaporator coils (usually located behind the back panel of the freezer).
  2. Check for loose parts: Some common sources of noise in a freezer are loose screws, washers, or other small parts. Check for any loose items and tighten them as needed.
  3. Check the evaporator fan: The evaporator fan is responsible for circulating air within the freezer. If the fan is not working properly, it can cause the freezer to become noisy. You can check the fan by removing the back panel of the freezer and listening for any unusual noises. If you suspect the fan is the problem, you may need to replace it.
  4. Check the compressor: The compressor is responsible for circulating refrigerant and cooling the freezer. If the compressor is malfunctioning, it can cause the freezer to become noisy. You can check the compressor by listening for any unusual noises or by checking the compressor with a multimeter. If you suspect the compressor is the problem, you may need to replace it.
If you are unable to fix the problem yourself, you may want to consider contacting a repair service. They will be able to diagnose and fix the issue more accurately.

Noisy Tire Solution

2005 Mercury Mariner noisy tires solution. Take tires off rim and turn inside out. My dealer recommended this and 50% of the noise went away immediately with more expected in the next 1,000 miles. This was my second set of tires with only approximately 30,000 miles and noise I could no longer tolerate. Hope this tip helps someone else.

My Amana bottom freezer model # BB20VSE, serial # 0006289684, mfg # P1321301WS has become increasingly noisy when the compressor(?) turns on. This started over a year ago and now is extremely loud. Thank...

Ah this is an indication that your condenser has become dirty, or blocked, or the fan motor is not working or the air flow is restricted.
The noise is generated when the compressor cycles off and sudders to a stop

What does compressor getting noisy on ocaisson mean? Do I need to assume failure is immenient or could it last a while longer?

It is hard to say how long any appliance will last, but I would not replace solely for a noisy compressor. Most all compressors with age will get noisy on start up and shut down. If there is an espically loud knock on shut of check the mount bushings or for broken/lose mounting hardware

NAV6800AWW - noisy

hi there,

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping/or sound
during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and
redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.
