Freeze up on DVD

DVD will load and play, however, during the play the screen begins to freeze and motion is very slow (this could happen at any time). Small square blocks appear on the screen and there may be slight movement on the screen showing two different scenes (distorted) at the same time. Finally the screen will completely freeze up and nothing will get it to move. I cleaned the discs with approved solution and cleaned the DVD player with compressed air. The DVD player is relatively new.

...also my DVD player gets really hot. Could this be affecting performance? It has been performing okay except when left on.

If you are a tech check the voltage regulator the problem is intermittent ytou shold be getting about between 5to 12 volts dc from the output of your regulator.if you are not getting that then rplace the voltage and the associated components if you are not a tech take it to one and have it repaired.good luck.

Hi vaffl I read your symptom this morning and it sounds like you might have a tracking problem. In order to confirm this problem remove the top cover. I would start by measuring the power supply voltages. Load a disc in the player and press play. See if there is any change in the voltage levels durring the time that the player starts acting up. Sometimes a faulty voltage regulator will cause this problem. I hope this helps you. Bruce
