Iriver pmp 120

Hi I have a boot disk faliure, which is due to system file on my media player being deleted. I need to replace this file to make the media player work again. The sys file should be firmware ver 1.10. I have emailed i river directly and they do not have the firmware or the capasity to fix my problem. I river suggested that i sent it to a 3rd party specilist. is their any specilists in the uk (london) that i can send it to or have the firmaware file

Boot failure or just nothing?

Boot failure would be the hard disk.
Just nothing would indicate that the system board is dead.

You don't mention using the mains power adaptor.

Boot failure

1st go to Ihttp://www.shamrockman.net/ and dload the version you want to run. My PMP shows 1.23 but I couldn't find that version so I now run 1.24.. Save the dloads in a new folder on your computer.. There should be (7) items that dload to your computer.

*** I have found that just copying the files to your PMP Player will NOT work.***

I had to delete ALL (7) of the system files and folders.
1.) BMP folder
2.) etc folder
3.) system file
4.) (4) "Version-[0x..... " files..

So there were (7) items I had to delete. Once deleted go to the folder you saved the dloads to. I had to click and drag each item to the drive your PMP player is connected to. Once all (7) items have been placed on your PMP player disconnect it, turn off the power, wait a minute and turn it back on. These steps worked PERFECTLY for me. Please let me know in this forum if this helps..

Thanks..

Iriver pmp 120 use the wrong charger

try this. the iriver doesn't boot at times ( wrong charger or using the right charger abroad), unlatch the battery and hold down the power button for about 20 seconds. also reset the instrument. hopefully that might work for you.

Formatting the iriver x20

I think you need to have a Windows XP w/SP1 or later and USB 2.0 port to connect to. Any older operating system/Pc will not do. Once you make the connection, simply Right-Click on the new drive letter (PC would have created for the player) and click <Format> followed by <start> .
