Canon Powershot A1000IS will show most photos on SD card but some say 'Unidentified Image'?

I've just been on a trip away and have (I assume) filled up my 4GB SD card as when I try to take another picture it says 'Memory Card Error'. When I look at the photos I've taken on the camera most of them show up but some of the ones taken in the middle won't show up, it just says 'Unidentified Image' is there any way of being able to get these photos?

SOURCE: Memory Card Error

Sounds like the camera does not support SDHC. Check manual to see if this camera supports high capacity SD cards.

SOURCE: Canon SD850 IS showing "unidentified image" after pic is taken

we have just experienced both of the above problems. We are using 2G SD card from Kingston. After about 400 pictures set to mdeium resolution we get many pictures with the ? mark unidentified image. I see that each image takes up about 2M of space but the image information is not stored so you can not open the file. Also other images have the shaded problem as above.

does anyone have any ideas about this. Is it the camera or the SD memory? We just bought the camera about 3 weeks ago and are now thinking of returning it

SOURCE: Sd card won't upload video- 'unidentified image' is displayed

iPhoto is for still pictures. iMovie is for videos. Use a card reader to download your videos to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can import to iMovie or just play them using Quicktime.

Testimonial: "Spot on... problem sorted. It seems iphoto is happy to load short clips but longer vids are too much so quicktime was the solution. thanks :-)"

Card locked

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Memory card error? no matter if i re format the card bor not and it wont let me take pic

If you have a SD memory card reader separate from your camera on your computer, try formatting the SD card from you computer.

Using the Ixus 95IS I now get Unidentified Image - this is useless how can I rectify

This happens when your SD card is nearly full. Backup all the images on the card to your computer hard-drive, and then format it. That should help with the 'unidentified image' messages. You might also want to think about getting an SD card with a larger capacity, at least 4GB.

Can't get a picture on the screen - just shows black. When we turn the camera on the LCD screen displays the function choices and menu options, but will not display any image. If we take a picture using...

Check the SD card, they have sliders on them which lets you "lock" the card so nothing can be put on or taken off of it. Make sure that is off. Then go through the menu on the camera and try to format the card again. If the card is bad it should give you an error message when it tries otherwise you should be good :)

Canon ixus 70 - "unidentified image"

Occasionally the SD card will fail. To check this try a different card and see if you get the same result.
