After a storm power outage, my tv now has no audio or picture except for barcode-like colors on the screen.

Bad news: The issue can only be solved by replacing the optical block for the TV. This was a defect in the design of this TV. Replacing this part is very expensive (over $1000) and time consuming (need to take whole TV apart).
Good news: Sony extended the warranty for the optical block for this model. They are covering the cost of parts and labor for this TV. Contact Sony to have them refer you to a authorized service center near you.

Is it just the cable? Do you have a DVD player or game system connected? If so, how do they look? Ofter a momentary power loss can cause cableboxes to loss picture, loss sound, and even cause the picture to be distorted. Try unpluggind the AC power from the cablebox and TV. Wait about 5 minutes and reconnect both. Leave the cablebox alone for about another 5 minute after you reconnect it so that it can fully boot up. Then see if you still have the problem.
