I bought the jacuzzi pump n earth filter as 1 piece. Pump runs smooth n very quiet. runs for 10 min, then pump starts to surge n the water level in the pump goes down n I unplug it. later, repeat, same thing. cleaned filter. emptied pump basket? same thing. I also desperiately need a manual. ty. cannot use sweeper or skimmer. can only run for 10 min.
SOURCE: pool pump won't prime
check for air leaks, cover o-ring is common culprit. anything in front of pump can cause this.
SOURCE: Jacuzzi magnum pool pump impeller broke
The impeller on the Magnum pump unthreads counter clockwise as do other impellers. There is a shaft of the motor that runs the length of the motor, on the back of the motor when you take the bell housing off you will see a small silver spot with a **** in it for a standard screwdriver. Put the biggest one in there you can and then grab the impeller and turn it counter clock wise and it should unthread. Sometimes they won't if it has been on there a number of years. You will need to break it off if it doesn't unthread. Then just purchase a new Impeller for the Jacuzzi Magnum Pump.

SOURCE: Back pressure at inlet when pump is turned off
There is a check valve in the output side -- sounds like this valve is jammed, clooged or broken. If the valve is not visible as a separate fitting, it's in the line, probably in an elbow.

SOURCE: Pump and skimmer instructions on how to
Direction of flow is FROM the skimmer to the pump and back to the jet. Its easy enough to determine which hose is the "jet" hose and which is the suction hose. Put both into the water, or in a bucket and turn on the pump, find the one that is shooting out water, that's the jet hose. On these systems, filter replacement and cleaning is annoyingly frequent if you want it to work even remotely efficient.
1.Pump not primed
2.Leakage of air into suction system
3.Impeller clogged
4.Valve in suction or discharge line partly closed or suction or discharge line partly plugged or too small. 5.Plugged basket in skimmer or hair in lint strainer.
6.Dirty filter.
