Question about Mitsubishi WS-55907 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Tv powers on and goes off after about 3 seconds

I have a Mitsubishi WS-55907 55 in. Rear Projection tv. When you turn on the set the tv powers on and goes off after about 3 seconds. I performed the error code operational check and it indicates an error "22" -short protect circuit. Is this something that can be fixed easily? I am not sure what short protect circuit means, or how to go about repairing it. Is it best to call a service tech? Thanks in advance for any responses.

I'm not sure if I have the same problem or not. I have the WS-55907 and when it was unplugged the power went out and only comes on for 3 sec. then goes out. I don't have a manual to see what the diagnosis is, but the symptoms.

My TV (55" Widescreen) had the same issue. I was watching a movie and it turned off. When I turned it back on, the picture didn't come up, no blue screen, just the green 'on' light next to the power button lit up. After 2-3 seconds the TV turned itself off. I have unplugged it from the wall now for 2 days.

I have Mitsu ws-55907, troubleshooting code 2-2. Previously looked at similar posts. Visually inspected capacitor C9A60-not melted or misshapen. Next, found F9A05 fuse blown(with multimeter). Trying to understand if the suggested IC4B01 needs replacement. Different tvs in the same range have the same troubleshooting suggestions that IC4B01 is the problem. No visible shortage observed on IC4B01. Should i try to replace IC4B01 and the fuse F9A05 ? Or other IC's might cause the same fuse to go out?
    My email [email protected]
Also need help finding those parts online.
    Thanks

I posted previous post before noticing some sort of liquid on the board. Looks like it could be a coolant from the CRT tube. Any suggestions? Should CRT tubes be replaced? Maybe IC4B01 is ok?

This set has a problem in the horizontal sweep circuit or in the main power supply. Most likely a failed component, and the set shut down to protect the rest of the circuit. If you know how to read a schematic diagram and how the circuits operate, then you will need a good multimeter and an ESR type capacitor checker to find out the short in this set. Sometimes the CRTs(Picture Tubes) will leak the coolent fluid out and onto the printed circuit boards. Also sometimes the convergence IC's can cause this problem, but if that is the case the small little pico fuses will pop also. If you have had no solid state or printed circuit repair experience, play it safe and call in a trained tech. Good Luck
