I was using my Dell C521 and and left it on to go get something out of town. When I came back the computer was on but nothing on screen, so I thought it was on sleep mode so I press the power nob to get it out of the sleep state and that was it. When I turn it on the front panel under where the front USB and sound / mic ports are, light up indicator lights 1, 2, and 3. I don't know what o do to get the computer to even show the POST on my monitor. Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
Are you getting any beeps at all when powering up? That is the actual POST, different computer manufacturers will use beep sounds or patterns but most are the same..for example.
Some computers will signify a good POST by one beep, some will do it with two. Anything higher than that in frequency or lenght usually indicates a proble.
Also, you want to be able to see the POST so you can actually see the SPLASH screen from the Motherboard/Computer manufacturer then? Like Intel or HP etc etc? Let me know more so we can narrow it down a bit more..Are you getting any beeps at all when powering up? You need to press f2 then go to Standard CMOS Features, then highlight drive A. Change it to none. You should not have anything in there enless you have floppy drive
It means that the video cannot be displayed on your monitor. Either your monitor is bad or your video card is bad. If you do not have a video (PCI) card installed then you are using the integrated video circuit built into your motherboard. If that's the case, you need to replace the motherboard.
have you added any ram recently or anything? i would suggest booting into safe mode press f8 after the bios and try and do a roll back and shut off any un needed programs via run-msconfig-start up. also DISCONNECT ANY USB DEVICES
Hi, Restart the computer and when you see the Dell logo.Tap on the F2 key a couple of times. You would enter the system setup.
1. Use your down arrow key on the keyboard and select the option Drives 2. Hit enter to expand the same 3. using the down arrow key again select diskette drive 4. Tap the right arrow key to switch it off.
Save the same changes by tapping on the ESC key on the top left of the keyboard.
PS. In case you have a floppy drive on the computer check if the drive is empty.
Hi,
This problem occures when ther is an conflict with drivers, so try to updat your Bios from dell web site orm you may try to update the video driver or have an option to replace it and try Try to boot the system safemode and chk if you get the same BSOD if not then its the video drivers
Techguru2009: You need to install a third party decoder. If you have then uninstall it and reinstall. You might have a conflict with the video codecs.Let me know if this helps.
