Picture flickers when T.V. is tapped on or struck.
I have a Hitachi 53SBX59B 53" rear projection television.
The unit will power on but no picture is present. I have taken off the upper and lower rear panels and cleaned the dust off with compressed air. The picture blinks on momentarily sometimes when I lightly tap the unit, sometimes when I hit the side of the unit, and sometimes just randomly. Other times when I do tap or hit the unit, the picture does not flicker on at all. I would appreciate any advice or suggestions. Feel free to ask me any other questions that might help give you insight into what the problem may be. Thank you for your time and willingness to help.

Sounds very much like a loose connection, i.e. a wire or solder joint, you could have a look around make sure everything is plugged in right, as for the solder joints id advise getting it proffessionally looked at as these rear projection tvs can be a lot of hassle if you slighty knock any of the 3 tubes,

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.
The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.

What you most likely have is a convergence problem. The convergence circuitry is used to align your colors. What you describe sounds like that circuit has failed. Google “Hitachi convergence repair” and you’ll find many sites that will educate you on how to repair and where to get the parts needed for your Hitachi PTV.
The mirrors are specific to the unit as they have slight curves to bend the picture correctly so it aligns to the screen properly. To ensure you get the correct picture for your unit, you would have to order the manufactures original replacement part. You can order an new OEM replacement mirror for this model (53SBX59B) from a major Hitachi parts distributor at the link below:
TVs, VCRs, DVD players, camcorders and video games will continue to work, even if they are only analog-capable. Such equipment, however, may not provide digital-quality picture and sound.
Hope this helps.
