Keyboard on my Medion MD 40812 PC Notebook will not work

My daughter uses this laptop; she shut it down last night, and when she was going to restart it this morning, she's not able to log on because nothing on the keyboard works anymore; not the numbers nor the letters. I cannot go into the setttings when I restart it to see if it got disabled there somehow, but no buttons work at all. Please help ! Thanks Steve

Hi, I am trying to figure out how the cable of the keyboard (it's wide, in the shape of a tape) is supposed to be connected to the bottom of the computer so that the computer would sense when the keys are being opereated. Right now it's disconnected since I wanted to get to the fan and clean it.

    Thanks!!

Tintman, Chances are your keyboard or the keyboard connector is damaged. I couldn?t find much info on the Medion laptop but if you have a PS/2 port (standard round keyboard connector) on your laptop you might still be able to do something. Borrow a standard desktop keyboard, plug it in and turn on your PC. You should be able to operate the laptop as before except you?re using a different keyboard. Let us know how this works and please don?t forget to rate this post.

Hi Steve, its kinda hard to advise you considering your limited in what u can do, if you are not able to get into the bios or into safe mode using the keys on the keypad, only thing i would suggest that would be worth checking is the cable for the keypad, to check that just remove the keypad and underneath it there is a cable try taking it out and putting it back in, If the machine lets you into safe mode or bios let me know should be easy enough to fix. And by any chance did your daughter spill anything on the keypad?.. and if you aint sure how to remove keypad just ask will give you more details.. let me know how you get on.. John

Proper shut down

Hi doodu13appa,

Nothing beats a complete "Shut Down" through the Start menu in the lower left-hand corner of your Windows screen. This allows all open windows to be properly closed, with current data saved, memory and cache cleared. This is like going to bed at night with nothing on your mind, sleeping soundly, and waking up refreshed in the morning.

Then, when the computer is powered up the next time, it will be operating at its optimum performance levels without being "bogged" down with excessive leftover garbage from previous sessions. There's nothing wrong with powering your laptop, or desktop, down by clicking the power button and letting it go into standby, sleep, or hibernate mode, much of the time. It leaves you with a quick-startup the next time you are ready to use your computer, and most of your open programs will still be running in the background. Clicking on your logon will have your right back where you last left off.

Good Morning!
DIficult to see this kind of problem here, but, there alternatives
May be, something with the video modulator, or RAMS,
other things like that, may be "virus" but if you go on save mode and try to run, ( IF YOU CAN) the complete antivirus, try that!
