I'm having a lot of trouble with my mp3 player... It's a philips gogear. I'm not exactly sure what "model" it is but it's oval-ish and the front has all these blue dots on it.
Anyways, the only music I have on it right now is some stuff I had from a cd... and I forgot how I did it. Something rhapsody...? Recently I made an iTunes account and bought some new songs. But I've been trying for two days straight and I get sync the songs to the player. I've tried with iTunes sync (some thing i downloaded) and while it says it syncs to the player, when I look for them nothing shows up. I tried with Rhapsody, and got the same thing. I tried with Windows Media Player and it can't find the songs... even when I clicked on the specific folder they're in (my documents/my music/iTunes/iTunes music. I even tried dragging the songs onto the desktop but when it asked me to find them they still didn't show up.
When I plug in the mp3 player I get this small window with the options: Play[using windows media player], Copy disk [using sonic recordnow copy], Manage music [using rhapsondy], open folder to veiw files uusing Windows explorer, and "take no action". I tried clicking the one that said "open folder to veiw files" and the songs showed up in the music section, but when i get on the mp3 player itself nothing shows up but the old songs from the CD that I put on a billion years ago.
I'm really getting annoyed here as I bought these songs and I want them on the player. I just don't know how to do it >_>
I also realized I may have downloaded them in the wrong format... but how do you download them in any other format? What I did was search for the song in iTunes store and click the first one I saw.
Is there any way to switch the file format without having to buy the songs again?
I also don't know what kinds of formats this thing supports... I tried searching for it but no results.
(Also keep in mind I don't even know if this is the problem, just something I thought of.)
Can anyone help, please?

The problem is that iTunes songs only work with iPods. If you pay extra, they will now let you download them in a format compatible with other players but I don't recommend using iTunes (or anything from Apple for that matter). Try Amazon MP3. The songs downloaded from there will work with any player under the sun and they're generally cheaper than iTunes. Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/MP3-Music-Download/b?ie=UTF8&node=163856011
You can use either Rhapsody or Windows Media Player to sync the files to your device.
Make sure the date/time settings on your player are accurate. Mine got reset to last year and it was thinking that my subscription was expired when it wasn't.

Here's how you do it.
Plug in the Philips GoGear to your computer. Use a USB cable to make the connection so you can begin synchronizing your music collection.
Start Windows Media Player. Depending on how your computer is set up, this program may start automatically when you make the connection with the MP3 player
Find the Sync tab in the media player window. Click on this tab and open the Sync screen. The Sync screen has two panes. The left pane is for the music collection on your computer; the right pane is for the Philips GoGear
Choose the songs from your collection that you want to add to the GoGear's memory. Check the boxes that are presented by each song title.
Click the "Start Sync" button. The files from your computer are being copied onto your GoGear MP3 player.
Wait for the sync to complete. You can monitor the progress in the "Windows Media Player" window.
Close the media player program. Unplug your Philips GoGear from the computer.

Hope this was helpful? Please comment for more information and thank you for using fixya
go into settings and dont let it sync. change the auto sync icon. it is trying to sync to the new songs. you will have to delete them when you are done listening to them.
You must use Windows Media Player 10 to transfer and delete music - the newest version, Windows Media Player 11, will not work with the Philips HDD Series of GoGear.
You can get all necessary software by going to: www.usasupport.philips.com Enter in your exact model # Click on the link for your exact model # Click on the Software & Drivers section
Make sure you are not using Windows Media Player 11 - it will work for a while, but eventually will start displaying the symptoms you are describing - you can read the warning on Philips website.
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged Try another USB port Reset the player If that fails: Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager: www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed Enter in your exact model # Click on the link for your exact model # Click on the Software & Drivers section Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software" Install the new Device Manager Open and run the "Repair" tab If still nothing: Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.
After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.
If these methods fail, call Philips to see if you are still in-warranty. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
Plug in the Philips GoGear to your computer. Use aUSB cable to make the connection so you can begin synchronizing yourmusic collection.
Step2 Start Windows MediaPlayer. Depending on how your computer is set up, this program maystart automatically when you make the connection with the MP3 player.
Step3Find the Sync tab in the media player window. Click on this tab andopen the Sync screen. The Sync screen has two panes. The left pane isfor the music collection on your computer; the right pane is for thePhilips GoGear.
Step4Choose the songs from your collection that you want to add to theGoGear’s memory. Check the boxes that are presented by each song title.
Step5 Click the "Start Sync" button. The files from your computer are being copied onto your GoGear MP3 player.
Step6 Wait for the sync to complete. You can monitor the progress in the "Windows Media Player" window.
Step7 Close the media player program. Unplug your Philips GoGear from the computer.
The installation CD came with a file called Philips Device Plug-In - it is critical for viewing photos. DO NOT use this player with Windows Media Player 11 if it is a Philips HDD model - you can see the warning by going to their website at www.usasupport.philips.com
There is a new version of the software for this device on the Philips website - www.usasupport.philips.com - let me know if this works for you - just added within past week.
If it fails to resolve the issue, reply to me - I have a few other ideas.
Try repairing the device before performing the firmware upgrade: Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution. 1) Back up all files on the GoGear 2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) 3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button 4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).
