Microwave won't heat and turntable won't turn. I googled a solution and was told the top hinge is the problem. I gently put pressure on bottom of door to lift while in operation and the microwave works! I can't find a top hinge part from the parts list, only a bottom hinge. Can microwave be fixed without taking in for service?
I typically find it is not door hinge issues but door switch issues, especially with sharp. You may heve a little movenent in the door hinge and that is allowing the door hook to move up and down on the plunger for a door switch that is probably a bit melted due to bad connections. If you check the door switches and look for any browning around the terminals where the wires push onto the switch you will probably find an overheated connectoion. Replace the bad switch and run better wires and better termninals to the new switch and it will probably be fine.
I've had several of those switches melt about a year after replacing them. Seems like a design defect, maybe a heavier gauge of wire or a microswitch with a higher current rating is needed?

Check the door switch, when it is faulty the oven will turn on but turntable, fan and magnetron wont operate.

is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the
switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.
The
damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode.
If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it
will shut down the cook cycle.
Sharp models stop after
59 seconds.

The fact that the microwave and convection both do not heat indicated that the oven is in demo mode, check the user manual, otherwise it will possibly be a relay not triggering, may need a pcb replacement, check Demo mode 1st....Phil

When you close the oven door the latches operate a couple of interlock switches that control power. It may be that one of the door switches is bad or out of adjustment. It's also possible that one of the door latches is broken so it's not hitting the switch. There should be two door latches. Are they both there? This oven could be fixed by adjusting or replacing the interlock parts as needed. Because of concerns about microwave leakage from an improper door seal, you should have this oven serviced by a professional.
