MY DMR-EH55 has problems repsonding to the supplied remote control
Brand new out of the box DMR-EH55, put in brand new batteries (supplied), the IR remote control.
The machine intermittantly responded to the remote... ie. I had to press the channel buttons many times to change the channel, and to get into menu screens, play, stop etc.
I changed the batteries and put in brand new ones.... same problem.
I took it back to the store and they tested it infront of me (with the original batteries) on a dispaly tv in the showroom. No Problem at all!!!
Went home with my tail between my legs, feeling like an idiot. Tried it again.... same problem.
I checked for any other sources of IR signal in the room. None here.
Wierd thing is that, when I turn my TV off (or to AV1), the remote works perfectly each time a press a buttom. Only when the tv is back on, and in DVD input mode, does the remote not work???
I dont understand how the TV being on, or in another mode can interfere with IR signal to the DVD machine??
I thought the IR was only one way signal?
Please help
Firstly, check you do not have bright light shining across the IR sensor. This can degrade the signal to noise ratio of the IR receiver.
Second, check you do not have a noisy mains electricity supply, arcing plug block or running from square wave inverter supply. Either of these can cause problems with IR receiver in the DVD player.

Please have the remote control checked for the IR output- use a phone camera to see if the IR is emitting.
If the remote is not working please check this link below for tips.
Could need a new ir sensor or repair solder connections on the display (ir) board. You can check that the remote is putting out a signal by viewing it with a camcorder, turn the camera on look through the viewfinder and point the remote at it push a button. If it is working you will see a flashing light on the remote.
