SOURCE: When you insert a dvd it says PAL DISK

PAL is the format of the dvd and there are two main formats for a dvd and they are PAL or NTSC. The NTSC format is mostly used for the United States, and the PAL format is used more in Europe and Asia. An older dvd player will have the format options in the setup menu for the dvd player, and from the setup menu on the tv screen the dvd player can be set to play the PAL dvd's. However if that is not the problem and the dvd player no longer can tell a PAL from a NTSC format then the dvd player either needs a serious lens cleaning or it has a malfunction. Also, the back of the cover for the dvd should say if it is PAL or NTSC.

We have JVC DVD Digital Cinema System Model TH-A9. We enjoy elethe set and have many hours per day playing with the DVD music as well as the movies. Suddenly, our powered sub-woofer Model SP-PWA9 fails to...

It sounds to me that the sub has blown a fuse. This could be caused by a faulty amp. Subwoofers are at the end of the day are just a mono amp. If the main amp in it shorts, it will blow the fuse.
A visual test might be all that is needed, plus your nose if it has fried the part!

Connecting TV, cable decoder and xr29m80

you have two choices. a newer connection you must have on both devices is a optical connection. if you have this buy a digital optic cable.

if you dont have this connection. look for a red and white connection on both devices this is just a simple audio lead .
To recieve the sound through the speakers after you have installed the leads make sure the home cinema function is set to "tv"

I cant get my samsung home cinema system to play through my t.v

I bought the optical audio cable ($15 WalMart) and use the Digital In on the DVD player to play the sound through the surround system and turned the TV speakers off. Works great! The optial audio has square ends and looks transparent with just one round shaped cable that goes from the TV to the back of the DVD player.

NO SOUND From JVC TH-S5 Home cinema system

I know this is an old topic however someone somewhere might benefit from this feedback. I purchased the JVC TH-S5 service manuals from ManualsParadise.com and after metering all the supplies as 'OK', I then focused in on the 'common' lines associated with the two onboard power amps IC's (STK413-400) and found that they were missing a bias supply. This is derived from the onboard 40v Supply 'dropped' down by a 47 ohm resistor R2702 (rated 1/4 watt but advised to make this at least 1/2 watt). The resistor was found to be open circuit i.e. a very high ohmic value. Looking at the circuit diagram again, I would feel that this is going to be a common issue with this unit.
