Mitsubishi WT-46809 Intermittent color problem

We have had our WT-46809 for probably 6 years or so (bought it new). Recently it occassioanlly flickers different colors and even sometimes goes to Black and White. This usually does not last more than a few minutes and happens probably a few times a week. I just reset the convergence to factory defaults in case this wasa drifting on its own and will see if the problem persists, but wanted to get any input that anyone might have. Is there any Maintenance work to the color tubes that I should have had done by a Technician at some point? Thanks for any input.

I attempted the ic chip repaired and was surprised that I was able to fix it for about 14 hours. I feel my problem was due to the fact that I try to repmove extra sodier with a small drill bit and feel I missed up the inlaid connections on the board it's self. Do you know if that center complete board could be purchased with the IC chip and every thing else included. This way I could just removed that main middle mother board unplug it and reinstall the new one. [email protected]

I have the MITSUBISHI WT-46809 46" HDTV CONVERGENCE IC PROBLEM as well. I just ordered the STK392-570 IC for 7 bucks and I am going to attempt to switch them both out (two of them). I am getting the overstated "bow tie", "RBG separation" issue that you are talking about. I am going to attempt to de-solder the intergrated chips and put new ones in. I figure it is worth the shot, insted of paying 350-650 bucks to have some **** with average skills do the same I figure it is better to have this **** with average skills do it and keep the cash. I will let you know how it goes.... DJ

I have a 46" rear projection Mitsubishi TV that recently started producing a wavy picture. The reds, blues, and greens separate into wavy color bands distorting the picture. It usually goes away for...

your problem is most probably in convergence circuit.  very common for this model to have convergence output i.c.'s go bad  also possible that a fused resistor or two has failed.

Mitsubishi problem

This is a very common failure on Projection sets. Its called a convergence problem.

You may have one or more of the following symptoms.
  • Screen looks 3D
    Colors don't line up
    One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
    Screen is bowed or warped.
    No Audio / No Video

Wt-46809 has convergance issues

Replacing the Convergence IC's should do the trick. But it is not a easy repair do to the disassembly requierments. I would recommend calling Mitsubishi at 18003322119 to get a local service facility to come out and give you a estimate to repair.

WT 46809 Big Screen

Good Day y'all;
When the is picture being intermittent and bowing then the most common problem is that the convergence circuit has failed or is failing. If you don't get fixed, the will go DOA soon.
Good Luck, big IRISH.
