First, I'd like to state ~It's wonderful FIXYA helps people with there problems (thank you soooo much). Now, I have a RCA 51 inch HD Screen TV. About four months ago, the TV shut off by itself, then turned itself back on, after thirty seconds or so. Now, it does it more often, and stays off at a longer interval (Before it turns itself back on again). Can you tell me what the problem is?
Sounds like an electronic part (a resistor, a diode, etc) that stops conducting electricity when it heats up to a certain point. Maybe it physically loses contact on its circuit board due to a bad solder, or the part itself is internally defective. Unfortuantely you'll need an expensive professional repairman to diagnose it. TVs have high voltages, ya know, and can kill you if you go mucking around inside.

Thanks for your advice. It's nice to know there's a place to find out things like this. I'm sorry that I didn't mention that it will stay on for ten to twelve hours without ever doing this. thanks again, Rick
