Question about Canon i 470D InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Won't print I have a Canon I470D inkjet printer. The printer goes through all the moves, but no ink hits the paper. I have replaced both ink cartridges, replaced the print head, reloaded software, driver, powered both the printer and computer down and still does not print.I have a suspicion that the ribbon cable is bad, is this possible?

I know enough to change paper, I tried several different types. I do not see how paper will cause the printer not to work. This information was not what I expected and was disappointing.

I have replaced both ink cartridges, print head, uninstalled and reinstalled program and still no ink from my i470D.

    What gives?

Canon i 470D printer has been working very well for some time. I have not used it about 6 months; went to print and printer goes through all the motions, but nothing prints. Re-seated print cartridges and can see on the bottomes that there is ink in them. Performed printer head maintenance and that did not help either. It seems like the printer head is no longer coming in contact with the paper. Adjusting lever on top of the mechanism that holds the printer cartridges did not help either.

It bugs me when you don't touch something, it breaks! Any advice? JAF

I've got the same problem! The ink does not hit the paper though I've replaced both ink cartridges with new ones. Could someone please advise? I've been using it regularly and the last time I printed something out was last week.

    Thanks - Nanz

How do you change the printer cartridge, please? I have mislaid my manual.

First make sure that the printer is on and the front cover and output tray are open. Next open the paper output cover by rotating it down towards the output tray. The ink cartridge carrier should move to the ink replacement position on the right side of the printer. Push the cartridge lock lever down until it clicks to unlock the cartridge that you need to replace. (The color cartridge is on the left.) Pull the cartridge towards yourself to remove it. Now open the replacement cartridge packaging and remove the protective tape from the cartridge. Push the new cartridge fully into the open spot from removing the old cartridge. (The label should be up and the copper covered sections should be down and facing forward.) Now push the cartridge lever lock up to lock the cartridge in place. If the lever doesn't move, check that the cartridge is fully forward in the slot. Finally close the paper output cover. Wait for the printer to complete the print head clean cycle before using the all-in-one.

Note: only remove and replace one cartridge at a time. Work quickly to minimize the chance of the ink system drying out after removing the protective tape.

Canon has the steps to change any ink cartridge on the Pixma MG4250 support site in the FAQ labeled Replacing an ink cartridge. The full text and pictures are available here: . You can also get the User's Guide and other documentation here: .

I hope this helps.

Paper jam in canon printer mx432

I took Ekse suggestion to start off with by turning off the printer; opening the front cover and removing the ink cartridges. Behind where the color cartridge goes is a light blue wheel. I took a letter opener and gently tried to move it. It moved and after a few turns it loosened the paper and I was able to gently removed the whole sheet of paper. I'm by far a techy but have been known to take care of paper jams. This little machine had me baffled because the back was of no use like other machines.

Hi ,i change the ink and this message is popping now 'the following ink tank cannot be recognized'

since you just replaced the cartridges
- you need to clean the area where yuo plug in the cartridge and the cartridge itself with drycloth or paper make sure the gold plate is clean the are where you put in the cartridges and the cartridge itself also where the ink goes out and the contact s on the cartridge
In case still nothing happens
turn off the printer open the cover move the cartridge carrier manually with your hands from left to right 5x then power it on again
Hope it help thanks ...........

My problem of my printer canon M198 is the ink absorber is full. give me the solution for this problem. thanks

Not all the ink that leaves the ink-cartridge reaches the paper.
Some of the ink goes into the "waste-absorber".

Take your printer to a qualified printer technician, for replacement of that component,
and resetting of the printer.

Just replaced ink cartridge and still says cjeck ink and it will not print

did you get a brand name canon pg40 or pg 50 ink cartridge, i replaced the one at works black cartridge with an eco refilled cartridge and it still showed up empty even though i know it wasn't. its canons way of making sure you buy canon. there are ways around it though. hit menu navigate to "rx settings" hit okay then hit okay on "autoprint rx" make sure it is set to on and hit okay, then make sure "print when no ink" is also set to on and hit okay again. it will now automatically print even if the machine thinks there is little or no ink. cheaper knock off cartridges here we come!

Canon BJC 4400 won't put ink on the paper

You need a new printhead, BC-21E, they wear out and plug with ink and the only repair is to replace the printhead.

Can't change Cartridges paper won't feed

Normal 0 Normal 0 Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Canon i470D Waste Ink Tank is Completely Full. How Do I Clean It?

There is a cleaning solution sold on E-bay for Cannon i470D print heads.
Or you can try a little ammonia. I used a cap full of ammonia in each side of the print head where the ink tanks go.
Put the print head in a can and let it set in the ammonia for 5-15 minutes then blot dry with paper towels and let stand until dry.
Then run the maint routines for the print head found under properties/maintance.
