Demo software should not be on the device is sold to a customer. Because it is for stores to display them. If you have demo software working on your archos 5 press the power button and hold it for 10 seconds until it shuts off this will reset your device. And it should come up with normal user mode
This player is virtually obsolete - you may have a hardware problem which will require calling Philips to see if it is still in-warranty. Notice the warnings on Philips website that indicates that plugging this device into a computer running Windows Vista or Windows Media Player 11.
Here is something you can try:
Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear: Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off.Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab.Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions. After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again. -Tha Mp3 Doctor

check and see if the hold button is down, if so slide it to the off position. Reset the device by holding in the power button and the volume + button down for three 3 seconds. This will reset the device. also make sure that it is charged. If these do not work than you can contact philips on there website
