The Safety settings are located in the
Settings or Preferences menu. If you get a message Safetylock enabled, the option
Show essential menu buttons while driving is selected in the Safety
settings.

Go to your safety preferences menu and you should be able to disable the lock. If that doesn't work text back your model number.
you can turn this off by going into your tom tom prefrences and under the saftey heading un click it other wise i would set it back to factory defaluts but ensure that you back up your tom tom first or u may lose ur maps. you can do that by going on to tom tom home which should be included in the box otherwise you can download it from tom toms website.
I expect the car has a brake safety switch which only allows the tranny to be shifted in to gear when the brake is applied. If this is not happening I expect either the switch or the solenoid it activates has failed.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom
Is this when you are driving? When stopped go to preferences then Safety Preferences Turn off "Hide most menu options while driving" I had this problem.
I saved the map on to my computer from the tom tom in Tom Tom Home and installed it on to a new SD card and now it working perfectly. I bought a 2mb SD card for £6.70 put it into a card reader and connected to computer and installed map and it gave me the instructions to put into device (Tom Tom) and switch on to connect then off and back into card reader to finish. Then I disconnected device which is important to do by the way put the new Sd card into Tom Tom and it is workink perfectly. I hope this help others who have problems.
Hi there, Yes, I too have experienced a problem with locking up when I take my TomTom 910 out of the dock after being connected to my computer. I also took my TomTom back to shop and was shown how to do a Hard Re-set on it. Firstly, you have to locate the reset button (which I see you have. Why it is hidden away in such an awkward position I don't know. I carry a pin/paperclip around with me for this purpose!) Press the reset button once until the TomTom screen switches off. Then with the TomTom off press AND HOLD DOWN the On button on top of your TomTom. Keep holding as white computer script appears on the screen. Carry on holding down until the remainder of the script appears to almost fill up the screen with script info and then this stops. Then release the On button and the TomTom icon will appear. After 2 to 3 minutes the TomTom should switch to show the current location map and look for satellites. Locking on to satellites can then take up to 15 minutes by the way. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!!
I am having problems with the safety cameras on my tom tom 920t i.e does not report any even though the safety camera alerts have been switched on. They used to work
