For some strange reason the dislay on the front panel has stopped working. Is there a button somewhere I should be pushing, or is there a fault with the equipment?

The problem is actually a setting. Put the player on stand by, press and hold the pause button on the player (not the remote) and whilst doing that you must press the open tray button on the player, this will unlock it.
I have the same system. I've had no trouble until a year ago, then the system got particular about when it wanted to play DVDs. I've also used lens cleaner to no avail. It plays some DVD's but plays all CD's and some copies. It has given me good service but cost me a lot of money. I hope there is a simple solution to this.
