The picture is not working correctly - gets a picture but only about a third of the screen and distorted

If this is a RPTV set your convergence circuitry has failed. The cost of repair is usually $200 to $300. Or, if you are familiar with electronic repair you can fix it by yourself with a kit (search your model number for repair kit) which usually costs under $100 and takes about 2 hours of labor.

Wavy distortion of the pictures

Hello!

That can be repaired, the vertical and the horizontal that regulate the voltage towards the projection maybe lessen or fulty. you can let the service man/service center repair this. these not much cost you, that is very cheap part and a minimum labor cost.

Panasonic Pt-51hx42 has no picture. Red light blinks 1x every 5 sec. Started with colored bar across top of picture. Then top half of picture went black, then entire picture static, Now won't turn on. ...

Yes it can be fixed. Everything you are saying points to a problem with the digital video processing module and or associated power supplies that run it. Even though this is a "digital HDTV". It still makes it's picture using older analog methods (electron beam scanning on a CRT projects the image). Sometimes the digital video IC's would simply need to be resoldered. The big question is although it is repairable, is it cost effective. This is a 51" CRT projector. There are 50" flat panel tv's available now that can outperform it for $500-600 brand new. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s when I used to repair these full time, the repair would cost you around $350 including service charge to come to your house. Back then this tv cost around $1500+ so it was usually worth repairing, but that is not the case today. That is the rule, but There are a few exceptions (ie the guy who cuts a giant hole in his wall to recess the tv inside his wall for a "custom" installed look is forced to choose between repairing a 15yr old tv (your tv dates back around 2002 if memory is correct) and heavy construction)

My 57" Toshiba projection TV recently started having picture problems. The picture is distorted and wavy. The picture on the PIP screen is fine. is this a common problem and is it fixable?

First bypass the cable box and hook the tv directly to the cable to see if the problem goes away. if the problem persists you possibly have a bad input board.

There is a tarnish to the eye of the lens Sigma Zoom 20-200mm

From your picture it is impossible to tell if the blemish is on the rear element or internal. The first thing I would do is clean the external lens surfaces then take some pictures. You may find that the blemish has no effect on picture quality. If that is the case, I would do nothing.

If it does affect your photographs, you will need to take it to a camera repair man. What ever you do, do not attempt to disassemble the lens yourself. You will not be able to get it back together and only add to the cost of repair. As far as cost, that is up to the camera repair man you choose. Without looking at the lens, he will not be able to give you an estimate. Check the cost of repair against the replacement value of the lens on E-bay and then make your decision.
