Question about Hifonics BXI 1606D Car Audio Amplifier

1 Answer

My amp turns on then off while it slowly blows the fuse out

I have a Hifonics Bxi 1606D amp that is connected to 2 Kicker L7's. When I turn on my car the cd player turns on and the amp those as well. But in about 5 seconds the LED lights from the amp turns off and the fuse ends up blowing out. After the amp gets really hot. My amp was working fine a month ago but now it just keeps blowing out my fuse. I thought it was the bass knob because after I connected the bass knob the next day after my amp started with this problem.

How are the two speakers suppose to be connected?

  • Alvaro Salas Feb 24, 2007

If the two speakers are connected in parallel, will the speakers end up not working anymore?? I just checked my speakers and they are exactly like you said they are(plus to plus and minus to minus).

If I were a guessing man, I'd guess that you had your amp hooked up in a bridged configuration. And also that you connected your two speakers in parallel (plus to plus and minus to minus). And if I were to further guess, I'd guess that you have a blown amp now because of what I mentioned above. Sounds like you need to spend some quality time with your favorite electronic repair shop. Good luck.

SOURCE: Hifonics BXI 1606D problems

it may be a wiring problem you need to make sure all the speaker positives and negatives are correct. I sell alot of hifonics amps and have never had 1 do that. it may also be a bad rca cable. if it only does it when you use the filter i would say not to use it also make sure the gain is no more than 3/4 turned up and the bass boost no more than 1/2. if you have a dif amp try a temp setup using it and if it still does it its a wiring issue. also try 1 speaker at a time on the hifonics and keep adding 1 till it comes back it may be a bad voice coil on 1 sub .

I hooked my Hifonics BXi 1610 Brutus series amplifier up to my 2 12" Kicker Solo Baric L7 subs. Everything turns on on the amp but its barely pushing my subs. Ive tried tuning it and it still doesn't push...

wire the subs if thair dual 4 ohm . in parallel. red to red and black to black. giving it a 2ohm load. do the other sub the same. and conect it on the amp . turn your gain about 12oclock and db level less than 12oclock and your frequnecy around 80-100. and that should work

Bxi 1606d amp it turns on power up but no sound

Well i sounds like your amp is shot. Or you have the subs wired incorrectly to the amp. Each amp is different in stability with ohm loads and each amp performs differently at each load. Sounds like it was wired at the wrong ohm load in the past or it came defective from factory. Definately send it back if u just got it.

Hook up my 2 sub and my 2 amp

wire the subs at 2 ohm each. red to red and black to black and then to the amp. if thay are a dual 4 ohm sub. dual 2 ohms will need to be wired red to black on one coil and the other conected to the amp.
