Hey there
You are not getting this problem due to any BIOS and wireless driver.
as you said that you are not getting any problem with your another system.
Checkout for the range you are working in. else it wont be that much effective.
Sometimes it happens that your driver misplaced or changes its parametetr in registry without awaring you.
So first repair your wireless network
else secondly repair ur XP PRO.
this will surely help you to have a good speed with ur network.
Gimme your acknowledge
Thanx.

The Dell QuickSet utility Wireless options can cause these issues.
There is a setting to always deactivate on battery. Make sure this is not set up. The correct setting would be Always active on battery or Always On, or no power saving options for Wi-Fi. Depending on the version of QuickSet which you have.
It is known to glitch when power is removed from the machine while the wireless is in use.
Please let us know if you have any futher questions. If this information was helpful, please take a moment to rate the solution. Thank you.

boot to the BIOS (by turning your computer on the start tapping on F2) after that, on the left pane, look for wireless, (you can only navigate using the arrow keys. highlight wireless then hit Enter, after that highlight bluetooth check if its ENABLED, if it IS ENABLED, go to control Panel open the bluetooth icon, make sure that the device you are trying to hook up to the computer is on Discovery mode or the bluetooth wireless is activated, try searching for it (the device) see if it connects this time. Hit me back on the results.

Try changing your wireless router settings from 6 to 11.
Type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser and enter your router.
Usually the user name is admin and the password is left blank.
Look for "wireless settings" and change the channel from 6 to 11

I had the exact same problem and went through the same steps that he did. It was only when I searched for a physical wireless switch (on the left side of my Dell D630) that the problem was solved. I didn't even know it was there and must have inadvertently knocked into the off position.
