Tthe lever on my Braun HT 600 toaster won't stay down. 3 years old, but very moderate use. Ideas?

Be sure to unplug toaster first. While inverting your toaster, depress the toaster lever(s) and shake toaster to clear all bread crumbs. It can take up to several minutes of shaking to clear them completely, however, the key is to depress the toaster levers down at the same time. Also, remember to remove bread crumb trays and empty regularly, as the trays are too shallow and allow crumbs to build up quickly, thereby blocking the "locking mechanism" of the lever(s).

If after cleaning your toaster out thoroughly, the levers still won't remain depressed, try various outlets throughout your kitchen. Oftentimes, when one GFI (Ground Fault Indicator) trips, several outlets along the same circuit will also trip.

Also, there is a website called Manuals.com, which has a very good database of many manuals for various manufacturers and models of toasters, should all of the above efforts fail.

I did all of the above and fixed my toaster within five minutes. :- )

Good luck to you.

Toast will not stay down in toaster when lever is depressed, actually lever will not stay down. how to fix it?

Most times this is caused by a build up of crumbs in the bottom of the toaster. There is a small electo magnet that holds the lever down, if it gets covered in crumbs it won't work. Take it outside turn it upside down and bang the heck out of it till everything comes out. If this does not work then check and make sure the magnet is still attatched inside. Other than that, this toaster gets terrible reviews from folks with issues just like yours. I can only assume the electronics are failing on these units far to quickly. It can be repaired if yuou send it in to the manufacture but that is really not economical. I hope the upside down banging cures the problem.

Door spring broke on Cruisinart CTO 350 series Toaster Oven

I had same problem with my cuisinar 350 series broken door spring. After disassembly found a broken extension spring measuring about 3/16 dia.,by 6.5 inches long.Spring was broken about a third down. I lifted ,or bended a loop and a halve up from each broken section and joined the two sections together. lifting each loop of the spring is tricky at first, requires a small screwdriver to be inserted between loop to be lifted and then gently bent the loop with needlenose pliers.
Not knowing how to disassemble the unit I had a hard time assembling the unit back.
I would start by taking off the screws holding the front black backlite first, then the main cover.
The main stainless steel cover does not have to be removed completely, by just gently unbending
the cover I was able to access the spring for removal.
Lots of luck

Toaster lever wont stay down

Open the toaster up and look inside by the levers, there should be a little piece that will keep the lever down, if this is missing, then you may need to replace the toaster, if not, then the little piece may be stuck, you can use the following to try and loosen it up,
1. WD-40
