This is a new refrigerator purchased from Lowes only 5 months ago at considerable cost. I have two problems with this box. 1. The defroster fan runs noisy, often a loud knocking sound. We have a moderate size kitchen (12x15) and the noise is unbearable. GE customer support says this is "normal". I wouldn't mind so much if it would run when we are not in the kitchen or nearby family room, but it starts essentially whenever it wants too, regardless if family or company are present. 2. The refrigerator won't hold temperature at indicated settings. Even though the door digital thermostat indicates 34 degrees, a measurement inside the box near the top indicates 45 degrees using a linear alcohol thermometer. Needless to say, milk stored in the refrigerator sours quickly and must be discarded when only half empty.
I have a GE refrigerator and just had a technichian repair it. My problem was with the condesor relay and also the ice dispensor controls would not work. The tecnician replaced the main electical board on back of fridge and said that GE extended the factory waranty on this part. He was surprised that I wasn't having any cooling issues. He said that when most boards go bad there is a cooling problem.
Hdrubinpe Even if GE had denied the excessive noise issue, they definitely can not denied wrong temperature. Milk must stay in good condition till the expiration date on a bottle. Call GE for service. Gendos...post back
