My wireless is not working...

I have a Z61t ibm thinkpad and my wire less is not working whatsoever. (I am on a network cord so I know it IS NOT my proxy server settings that are a problem beause my internet is working normally on a cord)I have a comcast internet set up at my house and when I go to connect it (through Connect to>>Show all connections>>right--click>>view availabe wireless connections)and it says "not connected" next to the wireless I'm trying to connect to, then when I go to connect, the button says "disconnect" instead of "connect" I'm worried and really confused. If there is a setting that I need to change, please tell me and I'll change it A.S.A.P. Thanks!

You will have to remove the cable from your wired card first, as your pc cannot open 2 networking ports and obtain an ip address. The wireless card needs to be able to pick up the address and dns address from the router, so when your disconnected from wired card, your wireless should search for wireless connections and allow a conection.

I believe the features of the function (Fn) keys vary on different models.

This webpage from Lenovo Support covers the ThinkPad R60, R60e, R61, T60, T60p, T61, Z61e, Z61m, Z61t, you may have to search your model as it may be different.

Does IBM THINKPAD type 2652 1.8GHs has wifi cards

This particular model don't have a built in wireless card on it , it only has a Integrated Network Card for wired connection .

So if you want to make this laptop work wireless you need to get a wireless adapter like this adapter from Linksys WPC54G or WUSB54GC so this laptop can be use wirelessly.

Ibm thinkpad t42 switch for wireless network

The T42 has a bulit-in wireless network adapter and a LAN network card. T42s most likely have an Intel wireless card or less likely a Cisco wireless card.
Your wireless network adapter may have been disabled in the BIOS
and/or
The drivers for the wireless network controller has not been installed.

To check the network adapter go to the Control Panel, Click on System, click on Hardware Tab then Device Manager. Then scroll down and click on Network adapters. If you don't see your network controller or you see a yellow ? against Other devices for the Network controller. Then either it has been disabled and/or the driver was not installed.

To get the driver for the network controller you need to dowload it from the IBM/Lenovo WEB site their support/download page from a computer that has Internet access. Make sure you select your laptop model and the driver for your Windows version.
Install the driver and you then need to configure the wireless adapter to suit your wireless router settings before you can access the Internet.
