I recorded an old movie onto DVD for my Grandmothers 80th Birthday, but I can't finalize the disc. It is telling me to go to disc setting, and then click finalize but Disc setting is not lit up so I can't click it. Editing isn't lit up either if that tells you anything. I just want to finalize it, why wont it let me? P.S. I know its the right disc because my son did it for me one time when he was here.
SOURCE: How to record a VHS tape to a DVD disc
Read your manual first to make sure the unit will do this.If it does chances are it won't record unless it has a decoder built in.Most VHS tapes have macrovision protection that prevents you from copying them.It will however, record homemade VHS tapes. There are decoders out there you can buy to enable you to copy VHS tapes.
SOURCE: DVD will not recognise discs
I think that moisture has formed on the boards.
The best thing to do is to take the recorder
and put in a warm room, connect it and leave for 2-3 hours.
Then try with a disc again.
I hope i`ve helped!
Testimonial: "The recorder was in a warm room, I took the cover off and exposed the laser and cleaned it. Warm air was blown over it and it worked ok. Many thanks."
