Burners Poping Both burners start properly. 4 minutes latter they POP, start making a whirling sound and burn at reduced temperature. Sounds like air/gas mixture is wrong.

I have a Gibson gas furnace model gl1ra072c12a, the middle two burners flame are blue both end burners are yellow . All were cleaned. as well as jets what could be the problem?

If the flames are yellow AND lazy, not acting like the two blue flames are, the problem sounds like excess carbon build up within the heat exchanger ABOVE the two yellow burning burners. If that is the case, the yellow burning flames are contributing additionally to the carbon already in there. Eventually, the lazy flames will roll out into the furnace vistibule and possibly burn wiring creating a major problem. There are looooong wire handled bristle brushes 30" long that must be used to thoroughly clean the heat exchanger after the burners have been removed. A shop vac will help greatly in reducing the nasty carbon mess.

Usually, the vent collector hood and flue is removed to brush down from the top and up from the bottom alternately. If there are air shutters on the burners, make sure they haven't been throttled too far down limiting the combustion air causing the original problem.

You need a certified HVAC service tech to look at this issue.

Your Question Preview Fire Magic A790i Logo Problem with A790i Firemagic a790i flames pop and knobs get hot Posted by Author imageGuest on 3/24/2013 Details not getting good pressure to all 3 b

It sounds as if the burners may not be properly seated on the valves. Instead of all of the gas flowing into the burners, some of the gas is escaping behind the front panel and creating a fire behind the front panel which would heat the valve shafts and melt the knob inserts. This call also be caused by partially blocked burner venturi and valve orifices.

Check to make sure the end of each valve is completely inside of each burner.

WHEN I SHUT OFF MY BURNERS AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ON FOR A WHILE, THEY POP.I WOULD LIKE TO STOP THAT IF POSSIBLE. WE USE PROPANE.

EXTINCTION POP
(1) Recognition of Extinction Pop. Sometimes a small explosion of gas in the burner head occurs when the burner is shut off. Under these conditions flashback on extinction has taken place. This problem is commonly called "extinction pop." Extinction pop, as the name implies, creates a noise or a "bang." Ordinarily, it is not followed by burning in the burner head or mixing tube, since the gas supply is turned off. The pop occurs at the time the gas supply to the burner is shut off. Sometimes it may be delayed for a few seconds.
(2) Results of Extinction Pop. Ordinarily, extinction pop is not unsafe or hazardous, and will not damage the appliance. It may result in a customer complaint because of the noise created. However, the resultant concussion may blow out the pilot flame. If an automatic pilot safety device is used, it will act to shut off the gas supply to the appliance.
(3) Correction of Extinction Pop. It may be possible to eliminate extinction pop by reducing primary air supplied to the burner. Make sure this air adjustment does not cause yellow-tipping during normal burner operation. Check proper gas pressure and proper gas orifice size. If these actions fail to correct the problem, burner change may be required.

My grill does not come up to the proper temperature. There is nothing that seems to restrict the gas flow. There is a sputter sounds so I think the gas feed is restricted. Can you help or suggest what may...

Check to see if the fuel hose is bent or kinked.
• Make sure the grill area is clear of dust.
• Make sure the burner and orifice are clean.
• Check for spiders and insects.
• The regulator has a safety device that restricts the flow of gas in the event of a leak. This safety device can be triggered without a gas leak. To reset the safety device, turn all burners "OFF" and close the Liquid Propane cylinder valve. Disconnect the regulator from the Liquid Propane cylinder and wait 1 minute. Reconnect the regulator to the Liquid Propane cylinder and slowly open the valve until the valve is fully open. Light all burners and observe the temperature.

The burners sounds like a jet plane.

make sure the burners are clean, each and every little hole must be clean. It sounds as though the flame is burning near the inlet of the burner which can occur if the holes are restricted too much.

Medallion Vermont Casting model CF9080

sounds like the regulator. there isn't much of anything left to go wrong! the gas comes out of a very small orifice in the burner tube and mixes with atmospheric air before being burned at the jet.
