I recently bought a 4.5 inch reflector telescope. I put it all together with the handy visual guide and inside I was able to see through it, though the power seemed low, as objects looked slightly magnified. But outside, I can only see blackness. I've tried it several different times now, so it's not a case of something obvious like removing a cap, but I can't figure it out! I found a page on optical alignment that I'm going to try out, but I'd appreciate if anyone has an inkling of what I 'm missing.

+ Sorry that is an off brand imported telescope. Never heard of that brand.
However, there are basically 3 styles of telescopes, a REFRACTOR, a REFLECTOR(that has mirrors), and an SCT with both a front corrector plate and a mirror.
You probably have either a refractor or a reflector. Meade maintains a web site with all of their manuals- lokk under the 4.5 inch Reflector heading, or the Refractor heading for one that is similar to your scope. They all assemble and are used in the same way.
Since all reflectors and German equatorial mounts work about the
same anyone familiar with telescopes can show you how to use it. No
manual needed. Just contact a local club for the help you need.
There's a strong bias against Tasco since so much of their stuff is junk, or "toy" telescopes.
