Downloading What I meant was , before they changed to digital, I could download programs that I saved on my DVR to Archos, like three to four programs all at once in a matter of minutes, as long as it wasn't high def, so I saved programs that was 'nt in high def, but now since they changed the systems it won't allow me to download from my DVR, it now says this is a high def program, so I now have to record everything in real-time.

Ribbon on hard drive came loose, take out battery. remove 2 screws on inside of battery compartment (not the ones mounting the plastic frame) remove 2 screws on side of unit(not all four, tough to get back together if you do. take ribbon and reset it into hard drive first, then unit. slide battery back on and backcover, turn on, problem sould be sovled. If not, try again the ribbon is not seated. it took me 3 or 4 times, about half an hour, with jewlers phillips-head screwdriver. my Archoes was a 604 wi-fi but it shoud work pretty much the same on 404, 504, 604, 605, 705 605 wi-fi, and 705 wi-fi.

delete the epg programe from your archos then when connected to the archos web site through your pc download the updates this should work

The TV Program Guide is actually controlled by a 3rd party.
I registered my Archos at Archos.com when I bought it......I'm not sure how you'd stand with a 2nd hand one.
Basically, the website tells me that I only have 82 days left to my TV Program Guide 'subscription' and if I want it for another year, I have to pay £14.90GBP!
However, I can tell you that the Program Guide is pretty rubbish. All it does is let you record the SAME channel that your TV is showing. It does not record a different channel if you want to watch something else and if the TV is switched off, it doesn't record at all!!
Reading the manuals and the reviews on the Archos website, I was led to believe that it would do all of the above, but when I tried to get help from Archos Support, they basically told me that it doesn't do any of that!!
As much as it p'd me off, that is the only flaw I have found in the Archos and the other things it can do are quite amazing.
Try searching for 'Archos Forum' and check out some of the features - it is a remarkable machine!

Not sure if this will help you or not, but I have a 404 and was having issues with the scheduler changing the channels for me also. Then I realized that it is a infrared transmitter - the same frequency as a remote I realized what I was doing wrong - Your archos station must be facing the cable box that it is turning on. I had my archos on top of the cable box and it was not working - but when I turned the cable box and the archos station to face each other - so the signal can transfer - it worked just fine.
