I've replaced it with the same type bought from Maplins but it keeps blowing .. I tested the yellow an blue wires leading from the circuit board to the roller brush head and the are in tact and I can run a current through them ... Any thoughts from anyone .? Your help would be. SOURCE: My Dyson DC15 has suddenly become very reluctant

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Although strange, I believe we have a solution. It sounds as though the cleaner head hose is blocked. When the machine is running the suction will be pulling against the bloskage causingt he hose to contract and prevent it from swivelling the left. When switched off there is no resistance in the cleaner head hose which is why it moves normally.

You simply need to check and clear the blockage from the cleaner head hose and this should resolve the problem.

Details on the blockage procedure can be found on our website at www.dyson.co.uk/support. From the Support section homepage, click on "My machine is not working", pick you machine and follow the diagnostics for my machine is not picking up correctly.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Kind regards
Darran

Check the above link to see if it helps. It shows you how to break down the DC15 to check for issues. Also try inspecting the circuit board for loose wires. There have been several people who reported loose or burnt wires to be the culprit for the brush bar not working. The DC15 does not use a belt, but a motor that is control by the circuit board.

Dc15 roller not working, how to reset

Hi Terry, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC15's cleaner head is protected by a sensor which shuts the brush bar off if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for any obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from around the brush bar and end caps, you should be able to reset the machine. Each step is shown in our video guide:

The brush bar will never rotate when the vacuum is standing upright, so make sure you recline your DC15 into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

If you'd like further help after giving this a try, our experts are on hard to provide assistance. You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Dyson dc 15 brush roll not spinning. motor is good, upper switch is good.

Open the right side of the vacuum with a hex head screw driver. There are 4 screws. Inside you will find a circuit board.
1. Make sure the varistor (S20K150) is not blown, these models seem to have an issue with this. It is a flat blue "quarter" looking component near the top edge of the circuit board.
2. At the bottom of the circuit board are two white wires connected via push on connectors. Remove these from the circuit board by sliding them away from the circuit board. Power on the vacuum and engage the drive button. If the lower motor still does not engage check step 3.
3. A blue and yellow wire runs off the bottom end of the circuit board. These are the wires powering the lower motor. Check continuity with a multimeter and make sure they are not broken. I have seen where these wires will break as they run through the housing of the vacuum. If they are broken, replace them with any wire of the same gauge.

Beater brushes don't work, what to do? They only work when the canister is in about an 85 degree up position.

This appears to be a loose connection. The below post was answered by highntools a while ago. It probably is related to you problem.
I have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.

There have been several people who reported loose or burnt wires to be the culprit for the brush bar not working. The DC15 does not use a belt, but a motor that is control by the circuit board. DC15 Animal brush motor not working?

Just had the same problem. Switches and motor checked ok, then found the circuit board on the left hand side of cleaner. The fuse (on the board) looked ok, but when removed and checked for continuity I found it had blown. The problem I have now found is that the fuse cannot be ordered only the complete board. Hope it gets the brush roller going again.

Dyson DC15 -

First see this link: http://www.espares.co.uk/datastore/ProductManuals/350256.pdf
There must be something else stuck in the roller assembly. Or it wasn't mounted correct. He will have to dismount it, inspect each piece and carefully reassemble it. Make sure that the wires at the circuit board do not become loose or break.
