Question about GE JVM1440 Microwave Oven

Microwave quit working after a few seconds......

I have a Daewoo combination microwave/convection oven. The other night I was reheating a hamburger patty and it worked fine. I decided to reheat another one and noticed that the the microwave stopped after only 16 seconds, I reset the timer and it started for about a second or two then diferrent numbers came up on the display, dissappeared and then shut off. I tried to set timer again but the start button did not work. I still get a display on the screen, I'm able to set time etc., but the start button does not work. I have located and removed the fuse, but I can't tell if it is blown or not. It is a solid color white, and does have what appears to be a black mark or smudge on it. I'm in San Diego county, are there any service techs in this area? Thanks for all of your assistance. Oh and by the way I purchased this unit on ebay, brand new, it came in its original box and I've only used it a few times. I don't think it is still covered by the warranty however. Thanks again!

How to turn off convection on a convection microwave oven permanently. Only wish to use microwave

Could you comment with the Make and Model of the microwave? On most Combination Microwaves, (The ones with oven grill and microwave functions), the Convection feature is usually a setting you have to select for it to work. So the obviously silly answer is to simply not select it.
Another option is to buy a more basic microwave that only has the microwave function.

I worked for a place that repairs appliances and rule of thumb is if a microwave sparks dont bother trying to fix it just replace it.Microwaves work with so many watts sparks could mean a resister is shot witch could be very dangerous and if it stopped functioning thats probably the case.

Likely takes a torx wrench or some other special star tool to open it.

Could be a bad relay a bad mag tube or a bad timmer or a bad door switch. Needs to be trouble shooted. You have to get it open and check the fuses and test the voltage on the pri transformer first.

Microwave/convection oven problem

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside. Its continuity must be checked.

Door switch or mount trouble can be caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.
