Change GFX card if PCI/AGP
or if onboard install a GFX card and see what happens (with RAM and CPU reinstalled)
if it still bleeps with new card then remove power from PSU, remove BIOS batt and wait 10 mins (or do the bios jumper trick)
(still with new card installed)
just a thought... its always best to remove Data cables from board aswell as power from the devices (hdd, odd etc)

Most motherboard manuals have a troubleshooting section that will include common 'beep-codes', which are a form of long/short beeps that equate to a specific error (i.e. bad/incompatible RAM, CPU Power not plugged in, etc.).
Check your users guide first, and then the support forum for the motherboard/system next.

It sounds like your hard drive has gone bad. As this is a laptop you can try to reseat the hard drive, if that does not help then it might be a case of hard drive crash.
Hi John. If you already swaped the Memory, it's the video card. I'm giving you what the beep means according to the different types of BIOS, because basically Ascent is a clone PC. I hope it helps. (you will have to open the computer to see the BIOS type.)
BIOS AWARD
1 long beep and 2 shorts -- Video error
2 short beeps -- non-fatal error.
1 beep corto -- OK.
BIOS AMI
1 short beep -- Memory error. 2 short beeps -- ECC error.
3 short beeps -- Memory error.
4 short beeps -- change atery
5 beeps cortos -- bad processor.
6 beeps cortos -- bad keyboard.
7 beeps cortos -- video memory bad.
8 beeps cortos -- video bad.
BIOS PHOENIX
1-1-2 beeps -- Problem with cpu/motherboard.
1-1-3 beeps -- Cmos issue.
3-4-1 beeps -- Video issue.
BIOS IBM

What you were trying to do tried to remove the RAM and boot your pc. Buddy once you remove your RAM you are going to get long beeps as it tells there is no RAM on mother board and it won't boot. Just install back all the things and let me know how many beeps you are getting and what type short and long.
