Plays but pauses (freezes) every 30 or so sec (maybe longer, been awhile since played), then go back to normal play, removed cover and played dvd and noticed the disc slow down when it froze when it catches up it returns to playing fine.
bad motor?, speed controller?, or should i send it to dvd heaven? (lol)

call customer support your lazer is not dead yet but that is a sign of failing freezing with blu ray means that it can no longer read the disk and the system has locked up you might want to self fix it by replacing it your self for 80 bucks instead of sending to sony for $150 but they renew a 1 year warrenty if you send it to them
cheapest and most logical start to the solution is to replace the optical block. looks like its focal point is drifting at a certain temp.almost impossible to pick up that problem without having that problem before. if i can advise,when you recieve the new part, unsolder the small bridgepiece that they put in for protection. if you dont, the unit will never work.
