No Picture I received this DVD recorder/HD upconverter for Christmas. It has worked fine until today. When I put a dvd in, the sound comes on but there is no picture. It cannot be the connections because I have it connected to the tv via hdmi & to the directv box via av cables. The picture will not show up through either connection.

Sounds like the digital video controller went out. you can test this on this unit by using the coax out and connecting to your tv, it seems to have its own video card looking inside the unit, however it is possible it is controlled centrally thorugh the main card in that case you will confirm by it not working and still only gettting sound through the coax.

I am considering purchasing a Funai Full HD UpConvert DVD Recorder/VCR Combo. I have a HD Phillips TV with HDMI connections. I do not have cable - just use over the air TV. How do I connect the Fun

Purchase a DVD recorder/player that has a HDMI cable connection and use the connections on the TV so you'll get a hi def picture. RF will NOT give you a Hi Definition picture even if it's up converted.

This dvd recorder worked PERFECTLY when I had digatal cable. As soon as I up graded to HD with a HD box from comcast, I cannot get the recorder to record anything. I hooked it up the same way as I did with...

The HD box from your cable company only sends High Definition Video signal which DVD does not support. Your DVD recorder "CANNOT RECORD THIS PICTURE" because it can not process (see) the High Definition (HD) Signal.
To record from an HD reviver you would need a HD recorder (Blu-ray) very expensive The standard practice for recording from a HD cable receiver id to use an DVR here is a link to one for about $100 some models will have a standard video output you could connect your dvd recorder to.

I have an old Zenith Digital Surround System the Receivver is a Model Z763B with a DVD Player/Recorder connected. When I play a DVD or VHS the sound can be heard through the TV and the Sound System,...

I have the same A/V receiver and in my setup there is an audio output (red and white able) coming from DVD player directly into Zenith Z763B. The video from DVD Player goes to TV input (yellow cable).
There might be alternatives to the setup mentioned above but I like to watch movie in a surround sound, rather than output from TV.

Zenith Z42P3 "Invalid Format" message from upconverter DVD

Ran into the same problem with this DVD player and my LG tv. Try this:
Open the DVD tray, with the DVD tray open press the HDMI select button until the proper resolution for your tv is illuminated, put the DVD back in, close the tray and try again. Simple fix -- worked beautifully for me.

Good luck
