Question about LG 37LC7D 37 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

Intermittent picture Our Philips 37 inch FLAT TV has some strange issues. Routinely the TV will go totally dark, there will be a click and it seems to turn off, and then 20-30 seconds later it turns back on. The green light stays on therefore I am not positive that it actually turns off but there's a clicking sound. In addition, you will be watching and all of a sudden colored lines come onto the screen completely distorting the picture. I have limited experience with electronics but some. I removed the back panel to see if there were any obvious capcitor issues. None are swollen, split or leaking. I will only repair if I can do it myself. Any chance of diagnosing this over the web?

It sounds that, the T'Con board to your TV has the fault. Check this link and select Electro-help site. You can get more details about this fault with illustrations. I think that, you might make it right, if you has some knowledge in electronics. an other possiblility is with its back-light CCFL lamps or it inverter board.

SOURCE: Hi, I have a Philips model 37PF7321d/37, 37 inch

The power board numbers you need to search for on eBay is 310432847531 or 310432838621 - they are compatible according to Philips.

Can't get sound through my hdmi

Try the easisest route first - unplug and replug HDMI cable into same port or the other hdmi port on the TV. Also, make sure the Monster cable isn't HDMI 1.3 - I'm not sure the HDMI ports on this tv are fully compat with 1.3.

If that fails, go to www.usasupport.philips.com, enter your model number, click on the verison of your model ending in /37, and click on "Software & Drivers"; click on the link that says "Firmware Upgrade - Software" - read the specs and see if it says anything about audio loss on HDMI - many Philips have issues with the HDMI ports - they are not broken, but just need a software fix. Instructions are on the same page - make sure you only transfer the .upg file, not the entire zip file to a portable memory stick.
Here are the notes I see:

Picture is not centered on monitor leaving a 2 1/2" black border on Philips LCD

I have a Philips 30 inch LCD and solved the problem by using the circular arrow button on the TV remote. Pointing it at the TV and clicking "right" (3 o'clock on the button), the picture moved right. Same thing on for "left". Worked for me.
