Fix for HP LaserJet error 49

It's a critical internal embedded software error. If power cycling the printer doesn't get rid of the error message Contact HP.

49 error is an internal embedded software error.
1) turn off power and wait about 30 seconds, power on and if error comes back, see step 2

Try the following: got to the menu (the wrench) and with the arrows look for service, press ok and look for restore defaults. After that unplug the fax line (this is very important). Go to the hp website and download the firmware update and run it (while updating dont to anything to the printer, no print, copy, fax.) when that is completed try to fax again this should resolve it. If the error persist the formatter (the motherboard) is defective. I think HP repair formatter issues with 2 years from the original purchase.

This could be a problem with the formatter board. Try an nv ram. Hold down the down arrow and the cancel button while the printer is off, turn the printer back on and continue holding the buttons down until permanent storage init is displayed.

Reinstall the print cartridge.Turn off and then turn on the product.If the problem is not solved, replace the cartridge

In alot of cases it is because of a bad PDF file that someone is trying to print. turn the machine off and then on, but clear the print cue first.

If this is not the case than a memory SIMM may be the problem or main board.

the Error is "the software had trouble scanning or was cancelled" in HP printer 2727 MFP please advice

basically error 232 indicates that a communication failure has occurred between the two machines
Following these steps may help resolving your issue

1. Make sure that the phone cord is plugged directly from the wall jack into the back port of the fax machine that is marked "Line" or "To Wall Jack", or that has a wall-jack symbol.
2. Verify that the line interface unit (LIU) (the box that the phone cord plugs into) is seated fully into the back of the fax.
3. Remove any other device from the line such as splitters, credit card machines, or telephone answering machines, and retry the fax communication.
4. Try sending and receiving faxes on a different fax line.
5.Try using a different telephone cord.
6. Have the phone company test your line for static or noise problems.
7. Disable Error Correction Mode (ECM) if the same error occurs repeatedly.
