My panasonic SC-HT830v DVD/VHS Home theater... Dvd drive will not open or close

I pushed the disc check button on my not so old theater system and now the disc drives will not open or close. It is only about a year old. Any Ideas???? I am not afraid to open it up.

I have the same problem. I opened up the system and now tray number 2 does not open or close fully. It just remains partially open. Very frustrating and when I called the 800 #..it just tells me to take it to the nearest repair shop.

Try to apply a good brand contact cleaner(from radio shack or other electronic store near you)and press it many times.

Panasonic dvd home theatre system SA-HT520. My 2 year old was playing with buttons on dvd player and now when i press open/close button it is saying locked and won't open, is there anything i can try...

The system has a locked / unlocked toggle sequence on the main unit by holding down stop (or Play) and then tapping the power button. Use this sequence lock or unlock the DVD / CD drawer.

Dvd tray will not open

Sounds like it's jammed it self up, if you got finger nails try pulling the front on the dvd drive as you push the open button, otherwise look for a little tool of some sort to wedge in the front of the dvd drive to give it alittle movement as you press the open button, it may need a bit, just be careful not to break it lol , if still no luck unscrew the sides and back if it has screws at the back , lift the top off , and push the dvd drive from in there , that will atleast get the disk out, and lets hope solve future problems ,

DVD player is "LOCKED"

Well, at least the child-lockout works, right?
I have a similar Pan. HT system and I suspect you will have to go through the main menu and look for settings regarding 'tamper-proofing' to prevent just such 16 month-olds from inserting their jelly bread into the DVD player.
Your system may differ from ours but you should be able to find that feature in your user manual.
If the manual is gone, you might want to try this page:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Audio/Home-Theater/Home-Theater-Systems.list.75434

Your system is not listed directly but there are several from that series and they may share features.
Downloading of the manuals costs nothing.

Good luck-
