You may need to check the connecting ribbon beneath your keyboard and if the problem still persist then might can try cleanning the key strips using isopropyle alocohol.
take the battery out and plug in directly and see if it boots up if not you might need to see if you can cold start it by holding down certain keys. Do you have your manual?
Hello, "Suzy Irwin". You wrote that this is the error message: "Check cable connection!
PXE-MOF : Exiting Intel PXE ROM
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". Is that correct? IF so, 1st, Good Job! Most people miss the mess., then we don't have the info we need. OK, "PXE ROM" indicates that the POST can't find the hard drive. "No bootable device" usually indicates the connection to the hard drive, or the drive itself, has failed. When it says; "Check cable connection", that's another indication of the same problem. So, do you feel comfortable taking your "Acer Aspire" apart? IF its in warranty, or if you don't think you can take it apart, AND put it back together again, then you will need to take it to a shop or store that does repairs, or buy another computer. But IF you feel up to it, check the company's website, and google the instructions for disassembly/reassembly for your particular model. Your description of the problem didn't include the model info, or any additional info to further ID your particular Aspire. They are NOT all alike. Hopefully helpful, sl0j0n.
it could be that the BIOS is set to boot from cd/dvd instead of boot from hard disk. if so, resetting the BIOS to default values might clear the problem. if not then check that you have not left another disc in the optical drive rather than a bootable operating system disc. another possibility might be that, internally the hard disk drive is not properly docked into its sata port.
