Question about Hitachi CP-S235 Multimedia Projector
I use my projector for my classes and lately it has been coming up with two red lights for the power and lamp indicators. The projector then turns off the lamp and doesn't show anything on the screen. I have replaced the lamp and the filter and reset the timers on both of those to zero. I have looked in the manual and there is nothing about this error. Does anyone know what these red lights mean? Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you.
There is a small tab on the lamp cover that should press into an "L" shaped slot on the lamp housing. This tab may break off, and not press into slot far enough to make the lamp dectection switch click. When the lamp heats up, the plastics expand and the detection switch opens. The projector quits as if no lamp is installed. The fix is to make an extension for the tab. I cut a small piece of sheet metal and crazy-glued it to what was left of the plasic tab.

Look on p.40 of the manual. It discusses this problem with the possibility that the lamp is not properly fitted into the unit. If adjusting the placement of the lamp doesn't work (I would actually take the lamp out and put it back in,) it could have an issue with a dirty air filter or overheating due to debris caught in the air cooling fan.
Here's the manual online:
