Question about Toshiba 42HP83 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
When ever I switch from colorstream or ant. to HDMI I get a split screen. The top 2 thirds is split in the middle with the main figure on both sides of the TV. The bottom third, all of the colors are drawn down and it kind of looks like a bar code. The Tech came out and changed the component board and the HDMI board and that didn't solve the problem. Now they are telling me that it is a normal function with that TV. I find that hard to believe because it did not do it before. Is this a normal function on a 4000.00 dollar TV? Thank you for your help Dan
Are you tring the same sorce for the component (colorstream) as with the HDMI? What is the resolution you are using? The possibility is that the sorce could be the issue or the TV might need a software upgrade to fix any HDMI issues.

Also the picture will black out sometimes when using HDMI. You never know when that will happen.
Tech also nicked the screen when he laid the TV flat on the floor. I think that he laid it down on a screw had the back off. Can that be fixed?
My TV is a Toshiba 42HD84 Plasma
According to Toshiba there are no software upgrades for this TV. The picture also blacks out and comes back on split. This not only happens with the cable box it also blacked out when I had the HDMI hooked up to my Direct TV Box as well.
They tell me that in order for it to work I have to turn on my TV first then the cable box. That helps but you should not have to turn off the cable box every time that you go from one component to HDMI. That would be like turning off your car to shift gears. I talked to Toshiba and they told me that this is not a normal function.
Yes the cable box works fine when hooked up to colorstream. So did my Direct TV box.
