My Dell Dimension 4400 running windows XP Home Edition stopped working and displays a blue screen with the following message: STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The windows Login Process system process terminated unexpectedly wath a status of (0xc0000020 (0x00000000 0x00000000). The sytem has been shut down. I already have tried to restart in Safe Mode but the screen starts to boot up in safe mode by printing alot of code then the screen goes black and returns to the blue screen and the above error code.

If not, i sugest you downloag the program "memtest86" burn it on a cd the boot up yur pc from your cd whit that disc
Mentest86 will check so your memorysticks are ok
any errors on a memostick can cause your that blue screen

If that is not it reistall and to not loose you files click you partion durring the install and do not format it and click enter then click on leave partion alone

It appears that your Windows Registry is corrupted. You can try to use a Registry repair utility like CCleane to fix it. If that doesn't work you will have to reload Windows OS (Operating System). For more info no this error code Google "c000021a".
Click on my computer.
Right Click on the C: drive.
Choose Properties.
Tools tab.
Error checking: Check now.
Choose automaticly fix file system errors.
Start, Yes, OK, Reboot the PC.
On boot a blue screen will launch and run for 5 - 20 minutes.
It wll reboot into windows when completed.
Blue Screen system error. If you've been running windows Xp, please do the following:
1. Insert Windows XP CD in the Pc.
2. Restart the PC and while in Bios, go to Boot Priority and select Boot from CD as your first priority.
3. Save and exit.
4. The PC restarts and follow the instructions on the screen. (Press any key to boot from the CD).
5.After system has finished, such will happen <Enter-To Continue R-Repair ESC-Cancel>.
6. Choose R to repair.
7. A black screen pops up, just read and type 1 and wait for the next step (password).
8. Put in your Admin Password or press "Enter".
9. Then type CHKDSK and press "Enter".
10. the system will repair the errors within the HDD and windows and later restart the PC. Good luck
There are lots of possibilities like faulty ram or may be virus in the system or may be the windows file is corrupt try to repair the windows installation. or take the backup of system and the format the system
most likely the ram memory is bad, or the windows file system is corrupted. test the ram with memtest86 (http://www.memtest86.com/) and/or replace it. if the ram is good, all you can do is backup the files and reinstall windows. to reinstall windows, use your disks, or press one of the following keys when the computer boots up:
sony = F10
hp = F11

The first thing you should do is back up the HDD, Remove the HDD from your Laptop, you find the lid that opens the HDD access slot under the laptop or ask someone who knows how. if available there are aftermarket 2.5 HD enclosures that lets you install the 2.5 in.hdd of your laptop via a usb. you can plug the usb to a desktop PC and backup your files. then reformat your hdd. reinstall the hdd to your laptop. replace your memory ram which causes the blue screen with a new ram, reinstall the OS.
