Question about Dell Latitude C400 Notebook

1 Answer

Monitor problem Hia there. Recently, straight after logging on, my whole screen shifts to the right by about 50-100px, and 'shimmers'... the only way to resolve it, is to change the screen output to Notebook, which it should be at to begin with. However, whenever the laptop is restarted it goes back to monitor and notebook display. Any advice would be much appreciated. Jim

I've downloaded the new driver and installed it, but it hasn't worked.... :(

I have noticed that when right click on desktop > graphics option > Output to > always shows as notebook + monitor. I can change it no problems, but on reboot, it changes back to how it was...

    ANy ideas?

You may be better downloading the latest video adapter driver for your notebook and see if there is any change, as it does'nt sound as if it's a screen problem, it may just be a corrupt driver.

Something in the softwar has changed, have you tried a system restore to before you noticed it happening, but remember any updates you have done will be removed, although if a restore does'nt work you can reverse the restore.

My entire monitors display was shifted to the right (half is off screen) when I accidently pressed the auto select button instead of the off button (on the monitor) HOW can I get it BACK to where it SHOULD...

It sounds like you just shifted the whole display over. I don't know how your monitor works exactly, but you should be able to use the buttons to navigate through a simple menu system, and either pan the display back to the left, or just reset to the default settings...

Dead Screen

Hey hows it going,

My name is ArmyMason, lets see if I can get you going in the right direction. might have a deal on the parts you need but I am thinking it would be cheaper for you to buy a new monitor or consider hitting up a local pawn shop for a cheap replacement. These parts can cost more than the whole monitor because LG buys parts in major quanity and we all know (WalMart effect) the more you buy the cheaper the price. So if you need to take it apart in the back of the monitor are a bunch of screws start unscrewing and make sure you know where they all go. tape them near the hole so that you can find them later. Once all apart, be sure to wear gloves, dont want anything to possiably contaminate you. (LEAD)... get the part number off the screen and look it up in that site. Order it and replace it. It is straight forward to replacing it.

Horrizontal line in bottom of screen shifted the whole screen up

if your monitor has a reset button, press and hold it for 3 to 10 seconds.

Monitor display shifted offscreen

I would be carefull with refresh rates unless you know the maximum and minum rates to apply to your monitor. I solved this problem before for someone and what i recomen is to set your normal desktop to the same resulution as your computer games. That way when you leave your games or reboot it will be the same. See what is happening is when you play your games it is a higher resultion then your normal desktop. And when you log off from it your monitor has to re adjust to the old settings. This will cause a shift. By setting them both the same you will avoid this problem all together.
