It has worked for the last 5 years fine and now acting like it wants to go to TV heaven...I called BestBuy today and while on the phone it turned on and played for about 15-20 mins of course I disconnected from BestBuy then went black again no picture or sound...getting ready to go buy a new tv...any help would be appreciated w/o me spending 5-6 hundred dollars

Things to check: Make sure your TV is set to the correct input.
I DK about the light flashing 16 times but that could be a stuck key on your remote control. If you can, urn off your remote and try turning on by hand and going through the "INPUT" choices to make sure you have it on the correct setting. BTW, if your TV is 5 years old, you'll make the money back in no tie if you get a new "Energy Star" TV. The new Energy Star TVs run on very little electricity compared to 5 years ago.

SOURCE: The green light is lit on the TV but the screen is black

Could be a bad powersupply in the TV since you did unplug it and try to start it up it maybe you got a bad power unit inside these can be replaced for under $150. If you Tv is under warranty I would suggest you bring it in for a repair. Thanks for using Fixya.com please hit the ACCEPT button and give a good review thanks.

SOURCE: LG 47LC7DF Green Light Blinks 16 Times - No Picture or Sound

The lights indicate what the issue is. Kind of like your check engine light in your car tells you something is wrong with the engine.

Turn tv on. green light solid display, no picture or sound

The flashing green light is likely indicative of a self-test failure, indicating the TV has detected some sort of internal fault. With no picture or sound, one strong suspect is the power supply. Flat-panel TV's have an internal DC power supply that converts the inbound AC current, and when these fail, or are unable to supply a minimum level of power to the set, it can behave as you describe, providing only enough power for the green light to illuminate.

When you turn on the TV the screen flashes through a sequence of red, green, blue, white & black screens. Unable to access menu & no sound. TV Model LG 27LC2D

Sounds like it's in a service burn-in mode. LGs need a service remote to de-activate. Probably easy for a local LG shop.

Tv powers up to black screen with on response to controls

There are two places to look for the problems, the backlight inverter board and the power supply. Look at the power supply first since it is easier to get to, look for burnt parts, bad capacitors, etc. Look for 5vdc, 12vdc, and 24dvc.
