You should be able to install a new replacement element or a used element from another GE168947 toaster oven.

SOURCE: Top element not heating

I found that the heating element in the top front was burned off at the end. I removed the side cover and the ceramic insulator from the broken end. I then grabbed the broken end of the spring inside the glass tube and stretched it to where I could re-attach it to the connector. It now works after getting it back together.
If you attempt this repair, UNPLUG THE OVEN FIRST!
There is also a security screw at the bottom of the side cover.

My Oster toaster oven heating element wont turn off when ready?

A faulty thermostat or temperature sensor could be the cause of your Oster toaster oven's heating element not turning off when ready. You can try the following steps to fix the problem:
  • Check the settings for the temperature control: Check to see that the thermostat is not set too high. The heating element may not turn off even when the desired temperature is reached if it is set too high.
  • Get the toaster oven clean: Check to see that the toaster oven is clean and free of obstructions. The heating element may occasionally malfunction due to dirt and debris. You can get oven cleaner, https://amzn.to/3xlDd86 .
  • Check the temperature: The thermostat or temperature sensor may be defective if the problem persists. To fix the problem, you might need to buy a new thermostat or temperature sensor.
  • Contact Oster's support team: You can get assistance from Oster customer service if the problem persists after attempting the steps listed above. They might be able to offer you a solution or point you in the direction of a repair company.

The heating element on my Hamilton Beach toaster oven 31134 has a hole in the covering and smells when I use it. Is that safe? Can I replace the heating element?

The element is failing and while it will probably not catch fire, it is better to be safe than sorry and just replace it. Does not look like a replacement element is offered. Sears has this toaster oven for $22.49 + $6.99 shipping.

Toaster not heating high enough

either the high voltage regulator is failing (you can test with voltmeter) Or the heating element is bad. You can test power to element.

Heating elements

I think this is a common problem with these kind of toaster ovens. Mine isn't a Toastmaster - mine is Cook's Essentials (from QVC), and my upper elements have also warped and split, although mine are curved downwards.
