Today, when I turned it on, the Acer logo appeared and then the screen went all black with the exception of the name of a channel in the right upper corner. Then I tried the menu button on the remote control (thinking that, as usual, it had lost all the channels) but nothing happened: no button on the remote control (with new batteries) or on the side of the screen works, neither the on/off one! (I had to unplugged it to turn the tv off!) Any idea of what could it be?

I had the same problem, what fixed it for me was to set auto scan to setup all the channels for me again. Another thing to check would be whether it is set up to use CATV or AIR.

Usually, this means that something has spilled into the front of the set and has contaminated the pushbuttons. If one of the channel pushbuttons has fluid in it, the set will just sit there searching for channels and will not respond to any other commands. The computer thinks you are pushing the channel button and responds accordingly. When you push another button the computer does nothing because it thinks that you are pressing 2 buttons at the same time. The board should be cleaned and any contaminated pushbuttons replaced by a qualified tech.

You have to go through the set up guide and reset the information you put in. It may have changed. Afterwards you must run through the auto program. This is a common problem i find with customers.
