SOURCE: hp psc 1510 - only want black ink

Hi Manavoc,

I will explain you the cause for it.

It prints in yellow first and then override with black for better quality. This is the reason your color ink gets empty.

SOURCE: HP Deskjet F4180 colour lights flashing and printer offline

Hi I have exactly the same problem, and can't scan or make copies. I went to HP Online, and tried their advice, which didn't work. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00867129&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3177566&rule=25623〈=enHP's solution made me realise it might be a scanner problem. I made a wild guess and kept the cover above the glass panel open. Turn off your printer, lift the cover up and turn on again. The lights should stop blinking and you should be able to scan/copy/print. I guess the cover prohibits the device to scan properly causing the blinking lights. Hope this helps!

SOURCE: My cyan cartridge shows as empty. My black

No. You need all the cartridges installed with functioning chips for your printer to work. The reason why you need all the colors when all you print is black is because a small amount of color prints when you print black. The manufacturers want to make up their R&D costs on the printers by selling lots of expensive ink.

The printer's lying to me

The printer requires both cartridges to have ink before the printer will initialize and operational. Even if you are only printing black and white both cartridge have to contain ink or the printer will error out. This is standard on all ink jet printers from every manufacturer. You will have to get ink before you can print.

I have just changed the black ink cartridge for my printer and every time it asks me to align the cartridges, it only works when I have the black one in there but doesn't work when they're both in...

  • Your model requires both cartridges at all times. Empty cartridge needs to be replaced to continue printing - this includes the color cartridge for black only jobs.
  • Make sure you are inserting the correct version of cartridges for your model. (32/34 black & 33/35 color).
  • Try to re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

I am out of colored ink. I have plenty of black and would like to print a black only page. my alarm light is on and it will not print, just says out of colored ink.

It's not going to work until you replace the empty cartridge. I haven't heard of any printers, colour printers, that will print if ANY of its cartridges are empty or missing.

I have an HP Deskjet F2480 printer and since I installed the HP solution center, I keep getting the error message 'cartridge problem' and there are lights that are blinking on the printer which...

Go to Control panel > Printer and device (win7) or Printers and faxes (win xp)
right click on your printer > properties > Device setting
locate Installable Option to Black ( seems to me your colour cartridge empty or has been refilled)
apply > ok.
Next Go to control panel > add/remove program > locate HP solution center > uninstall

Not printin g all the time & all blue

Without knowing the Model of Printer and any specifics I will try to cover all the bases I can.

If your printer uses a Tri-Colour cartridge and Black Cartridge then it is most likely that either the Magenta in the Tri-Colour cartridge is either Empty or Blocked or the Black cartridge is Empty.

To test this you can take the Tri-Colour and Black Cartridge out of the printer and press the Printhead against a tissue. The Black should be a solid black line approximately a centimeter long by 3 Millimeters wide. The Colour should have three solid lines, one of each colour Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. If either of these is not clear then the cartridge that does not leave clear footprints will either be empty or blocked.

If your HP printer uses seperate ink tanks for each colour then the Printhead may be blocked or the Ink Tanks are empty.

If it is a Laser Printer then there are several possibilities open. The Toner Cartridges are Empty or the Toner Seals have not been removed. If they are still full and the seals are removed then the Imaging Mirrors may be damaged or the Imaging Drum(s) may be damaged.

I hope that helps.

Installed new black cartridge in Deskjet 810C printer and after doing this it will only print in pink color. Please help.

Make certain that the cover is off the jets - if you forgot to pull the strip off or it broke leaving part of the tape on the cartridge, it won't work. Try to do a clean process on the cartridge. If that doesn't work, and you don't have another printer to try the cartridge in, return it to the place you bought it and get another new one. If the printer is printing pink, the color cartridge is probably empty also so that it cannot make black from the other colors. These sound like refilled cartridges - OEMs would have failed with some form of error code or warning.

I have a brother fax machine model 2480c, just want to know for the ink catridge, do i need full ink in the entire 4 catridge in order for the printer to work OR i can just have say the black colour...

1) The Brother printer is structured in such a way that it will stop all the printing operations if any one of the ink cartridges are empty.

2) If the printer continues printing inspite of having anyone empty cartridge then the cleaning cycles would suck air from the empty cartridge.

3) This would damage the print head.
However, the black and white print mode can operate exceptionally well when the cartridges are empty.

How to use only black when the color is finished

you cannot use the printer by just keeping only 1 cartridge in the printer.as both the cartridges should be present in the printer then let the colour cartridge is empty what the problem is.you can print the black printouts with empty colour cartridge in the printer, but both the cartridges should be in the printer.and if still you get the message as colour cartridge is empty please replace the colour cartridge.the simple option is yopu can get the same cartridge refilled.as the cost of refilling is 10 times less then the new cartridge.
